they aren't bad though, and it's fun to chain some together to rock out or practice mixing drums and such.Īny midi file will work with any ezx, so you can pick the drum sound you want, and then the midi pack that suits your style best. i'd have to pick one and play to that, basically, and that isn't how i work. i'm just a very particular player, timing-wise, so they don't help me much. they are neat to audition sounds and kits, though. I don't really use them so i couldn't say if they are all that worth it. just about the same amount as you get free, but different. you aren't really getting a comprehensive groove library or anything like that. if you buy the midi pack for that ezx, you get another "x" amount, so you end up with "x x2" midi files, if that makes sense. what i gather is that you get "x" amount of midi files when you buy a ezx. but, i did pick up several along the way (mostly with the keys, though, as i don't really play keys). I do actually expect that the midi file grooves will or might be inspiring to the type of music in the pack so it probably is worth considering more than just the Quantity of drums.right?Īnyway, it's either the Alt-Rock, Indy-Rock, Rock!, or maybe the Nashville, or something else! Then i'll buy the Blues MIDI pack for the 12 bar grooves and fills I need.Īs a drummer, i 100% bought for the sounds and couldn't care less about the midi. In general does it make more sense to pick an EZX say the ROCK! because it has 8 complete Kits since you might be getting your MIDI grooves from somewhere else (or making them yourself) anyway?
Since it seems that not all of the EZXs have 'many' MIDI files (and in fact Toontrack sells MIDI packs with grooves in any style) Does it make make more sense to evaluate the EZX packs more so on the number of and quality of the instruments than on the MIDI files? Do you guys buy the EZX packs more for the Instruments (Drums Kits, both quantity and quality of) of for the MIDI File grooves? I guess both is a valid answer? Not sure how may midi grooves come with each pack but it seems random. An EZX pack is a selection of Drum Instruments with "some" midi files. Lots of cool kits and most packs have MIDI grooves to compliment the style selected.
